Key Parties Informed After Fraud is Discovered: Insights from ACFE's Report

ACFE's Report to the Nations reveals the key parties typically alerted after fraud is uncovered within an organization. While the initial report might go to a variety of individuals, management is the most commonly informed party after fraud is detected, with 63% of cases involving management being notified. Other important parties often alerted include internal audit teams (45%) and internal legal or compliance teams (42%). This emphasizes the critical role these groups play in addressing fraud once it's identified, highlighting the need for effective communication and coordination to ensure proper resolution, and mitigation of future risks.
